Finance Metrics Tools is free to use. To keep it that way, we earn money in three ways: affiliate commissions, advertising and sales of our own Excel templates. This page explains each one, in keeping with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission’s guidance on endorsements and testimonials (16 CFR Part 255).
Affiliate links
Some links on this Site are affiliate links. If you click one and make a purchase or sign up, we may earn a commission from the merchant. This costs you nothing extra; the price you pay is the same whether or not you use our link.
Affiliate partners may include providers of accounting, budgeting and FP&A software, spreadsheet and analytics tools, financial modeling and certification courses, books, and business services.
Our Excel templates
Many calculators link to Excel templates that we create and sell. These are our own products, so we have a direct financial interest in them. Template links are labeled as templates wherever they appear.
Advertising
The Site may display ads served by Google AdSense and other networks. Advertisers do not choose or influence our content, and an ad appearing on the Site is not an endorsement. Ad networks may use cookies as described in our Privacy Policy.
Our editorial independence
- Calculators are never influenced by partners. No company pays to change how a tool works, the formulas it uses or the results it produces.
- We recommend only what we would use. Products are mentioned because they are relevant and useful, not because of the commission they pay.
- Compensation does not determine placement. Partners cannot buy a higher position in our articles or comparisons.
- We disclose clearly. Pages containing affiliate links note that they do, near the top of the page.
