Accounting work runs on schedules and reconciliations: depreciation, amortization, lease and revenue schedules, reserves and roll-forwards. These calculators build those schedules from a few inputs and reference the relevant GAAP topics, from ASC 360 depreciation to ASC 842 leases, ASC 606 revenue and ASC 740 income taxes.
They are built for controllers, staff accountants, auditors and students, and each one shows the journal entries or reconciling items the calculation produces.
The 12 calculators
Depreciation Calculator
Build a full depreciation schedule under straight-line, double-declining balance, sum-of-the-years’-digits, units-of-production or MACRS (GDS, half-year).
Prepaid & Deferral Amortization Schedule
Spread a prepaid expense or deferred revenue balance over its service period, by equal months or actual days, with the monthly journal entry.
Gross Margin & Markup Converter
Calculate gross margin and markup from cost and price, or set a price from a target margin or markup — and see why the two percentages differ.
Lease Accounting Calculator (ASC 842)
Measure the lease liability and right-of-use asset at commencement under ASC 842, and build the monthly schedule for an operating lease (single straight-line cost) or a finance lease (interest plus amortization).
Revenue Recognition Scheduler (ASC 606)
Allocate a contract’s transaction price to its performance obligations by relative standalone selling price, then schedule revenue at a point in time or ratably over time.
Bank Reconciliation Worksheet
Reconcile the bank statement to the general ledger cash balance: deposits in transit, outstanding checks, bank charges, interest, NSF items and errors, with the adjusting entries needed on the books.
Inventory Valuation Calculator (FIFO, LIFO, Weighted Average)
Value cost of goods sold and ending inventory from beginning inventory and purchase layers under FIFO, LIFO and weighted-average cost (periodic system), with the LIFO reserve.
Allowance for Doubtful Accounts (Aging Method)
Estimate the allowance for doubtful accounts from an accounts receivable aging and expected loss rates, then calculate the adjusting entry to bad-debt expense.
Deferred Tax Calculator (ASC 740)
Calculate deferred tax assets and liabilities from temporary differences between book and tax bases under ASC 740, with an optional valuation allowance and the resulting deferred tax expense or benefit.
Audit Materiality Calculator
Set overall materiality from a chosen benchmark and percentage, derive performance materiality and the clearly trivial threshold, and compare common benchmark ranges side by side.
Audit Sample Size Calculator
Determine statistical sample sizes for tests of controls with attribute sampling, or for substantive testing with monetary unit sampling (MUS), including the sampling interval.
Fixed Asset Roll-Forward
Roll forward property, plant and equipment by asset class: beginning cost, additions and disposals, accumulated depreciation and net book value, with the gain or loss on disposals.
Choosing the right calculator
- Closing the month: use the Bank Reconciliation Worksheet, the Prepaid & Deferral Amortization Schedule and the Allowance for Doubtful Accounts calculator.
- Fixed assets and leases: build schedules with the Depreciation Calculator and ASC 842 Lease Calculator, and reconcile balances with the Fixed Asset Roll-Forward.
- Revenue and taxes: allocate contract prices with the ASC 606 Revenue Recognition Scheduler and measure deferred taxes with the ASC 740 Deferred Tax Calculator.
- Audit and assurance: set planning thresholds with the Audit Materiality Calculator and size tests with the Audit Sample Size Calculator.
Frequently asked questions
Are these calculators GAAP-compliant?
The calculations follow the methods described in U.S. GAAP, and each page notes the relevant ASC topic and key judgments. They support, but do not replace, the professional judgment and documentation each accounting estimate requires.
Can I use these schedules for audit support?
Yes, as a starting point. Every calculator exports its schedule to CSV, so the results can be tied to the general ledger and included in workpapers with your own documentation of inputs and assumptions.
Which inventory method should a company use?
U.S. GAAP permits FIFO, LIFO and weighted average cost; IFRS does not permit LIFO. The choice affects cost of goods sold, taxable income and reported inventory, which the Inventory Valuation Calculator compares side by side.
